Hello! it’s so nice to meet you!
I’m Anna Weston the writer, photographer and air plant lover at Modern Air Plants.
I was first introduced to air plants by my sister. But I was convinced that I couldn’t grow them in the cold, arid climate where I live. I am so glad I was wrong!
Now I know that you can enjoy growing air plants anywhere!
Because air plants don’t depend on roots to absorb water, their design potential is unlimited. I feel like Dr. Seuss, but here goes anyway:
Air plants can be displayed on the wall, and in the hall,
on screens or in a bowl of beans,
suspended in the air, or in your hair.
Air plants can be displayed anywhere!
That’s enough of that!
Seriously, I am continually amazed at the diversity within the air plant, also known as tillandsia, genus. These plants can be firm and stiff or soft and lush. Many have a distinct silvery cast, while others are bright green, or even red, some are grass-like while others are totally alien in appearance. I don’t know if I’ll ever feel like my air plant collection is complete. There is always room for more!
