Welcome to YOUR AIR PLANT RESOURCE GUIDE!

I have purchased tons of air plants and air plant products. This page is designed as a resource to save you time and money.

Many of the products listed below are affiliate links. This means that, at no additional cost to you, I receive a small commission on the sales generated from my site.

You can be assured that I only recommend products that have personally helped me to successfully grow air plants.

Air Plants

These are my favorite resources for buying air plants.

Aura CREATIONS

Aura Creations make great gifts, for you or someone else, and their packaging is STELLAR. The air plants come in a cute (and very sturdy) gift box. They specialize in ready-to-go gifts and air plant variety packs. They also sell crystals that pair beautifully with air plants.

Design

The best thing about air plants is their display versatility. These products will bring out the best in your air plants, showing them off to their fullest advantage.

Metal STAND

If you want a modern display with open sides for optimum air circulation, but don’t want to jimmy-rig a stand to hang the display, look no further. This diamond, geometric display comes with a stand and pairs perfectly with air plants, plus, the glass-less sides provides your air plant with needed air flow.

METAL STAND
Air Plant FRAME

Looking for a wall display? This frame fits the bill. Measuring in at just under 8″ square the no-rust, metal grid is just right for creating your own living art. The frame comes with hangers, but is also stable sitting on a shelf. A single frame creates a unique display, and a trio of air plant frames triples the impact.

Glass TERRARIUM

A glass terrarium, such as this teardrop terrarium with a large opening allowing for plenty of ventilation, is an elegant, yet simple way to display a single air plant. This terrarium was my first introduction to air plants.

top dressings

A top dressing is normally used to hide dirt and create an attractive top layer.

Air plant growers use top dressings for our own purposes: to act as a stabilizer to wire that suspends air plants in the air and to fill a pot for air plants so that they don’t hide inside.

GOLD & TAN STONES

Gold top dressing subtly suggests sophistication and contrasts nicely with the various shades of green air plant leaves.

LIGHT PASTELPEBBLES

This light pastel top dressing gives a quiet hint of color and allows the air plant to take center stage.

LIGHT PASTEL
MONTO CLAY

The pale orange color of Monto Clay ideal for creating a desert landscape, echoing the red rock canyons of the western United States.

CRUSHEDGRANITE

For a contemporary feel crushed granite will complete the look with blues and hints of red.

RED LAVA ROCK

Red lava rock provides wonderful contrast with an air plant’s green leaves. Consider lava rock for hanging terrariums because it’s so lightweight.

BLACK LAVA ROCK

Black lava rock is perfect for displaying air plants because its naturally black, not dyed. There are a lot of sands and rocks on the market that have been painted black and the odor of paint fumes is strong.

Care

Air plants don’t require a lot of gadgets, but there are a few items I have purchased that have made caring for them easier.

pH METER

Air plants prefer slightly acidic water with a pH between 5.5 and 6.0. To give my air plants the best care possible I purchased this digital pH meter. Sure enough, I had to add a bit of acidity, in the form of vinegar, to my water. If your water is too acidic, add a bit of baking soda. Be to read the instructions carefully to ensure an accurate reading.

Floral ADHESIVE

Floral adhesive is handy to have on hand for air plant projects. This glue is fast drying and will keep your air plants in place for air plant projects such as gluing air plants to driftwood and grapevine wreathes.

FLORAL ADHESIVE
Spray FERTILIZER

Air plants for sure, don’t need a lot of fertilizer, a little goes a long way. Fertilizing once a month is adequate. The benefits of fertilizing is enhanced flowers and faster plant growth. Just take care not to overdo it. A burned plant is a real bummer!
